OPINION: Obamacare Kills Jobs
From The Heritage Foundation, I’m Ernest Istook.
A new study explains why the American economy stalled out rather than recovering from the recession.
There’s a clear date when things changed. Before that event, we were generating an average of 67,000 new jobs each month. But since that date, we’re only generating 6,500 new jobs each month.
The clear dividing line is the passage of Obamacare.
If small companies have more than 50 workers, Obamacare’s edicts kick in. Larger companies find it more expensive to hire, because they’re required to buy more expensive, government-approved policies for each employee, or pay penalties.
The slump in job creation began the very month after Obamacare passed. Job growth is now ten times slower than before Obamacare became law, and has stayed that way for more than a year.
It’s a simple choice—businesses could create more jobs, if we’d just repeal Obamacare.
