Poll: Voters Blame Lax Employers For Illegal Immigration
65 percent of voters believe that those who knowingly hire undocumented workers are a bigger problem that the workers themselves, according to a Rasmussen poll released Wednesday.
17 percent responded that undocumented workers seeking a job are the bigger issue. 18 percent said that they were unsure.
The poll comes just one week after the Supreme Court issued a 5-3 ruling that an Arizona law that penalized businesses that hire undocumented workers was Constitutional. The law was opposed by both business groups and the Obama administration.
According to Rasmussen, 61 percent of those polled also favor a law permitting the government to shut down businesses that repeatedly hire undocumented workers, 66 percent favor “strict government sanctions” against violators and 51 percent responded that sanctions should be applied to those who rent or sell property to illegal immigrants.
The poll was performed among 1,000 likely voters between May 27th and the 28th.
