Huckabee Says 'No' To 2012 Run
Mike Huckabee won’t enter the 2012 race.
The former Arkansas Governor made the announcement Saturday night on his self-titled Fox News program.
“All the factors say go, but my heart says no,” Huckabee said, noting that his faith helped guide his decision.
“Under the best of circumstances, being President is a job that takes one to the limit of his or her human capacity,” Huckabee said. “To do it apart from an inner confidence that I was doing it without God’s full blessing is simply unthinkable.”
Although he acknowledged he won’t be in the race, Huckabee noted that he will involve himself in 2012 by supporting those running for Congress, Governorships and “other positions.”
Huckabee, a presumed favorite among value-voters, has polled well in recent months against other GOP frontrunners. He made an impressive but ultimately unsuccessful run for the Republican nomination amid the 2008 campaign, rising to national prominence when he won a surprise victory in the Iowa caucus.
