Dems Want GOP Lawmakers To Disclose Where They Get Their Health Care
by Rachel Christiansen
As government employees, members of Congress may take advantage of the largest taxpayer-fed health care program, Federal Employees Health Benefits (FEHB), something that has lead several House Democrats to call the GOP hypocritical.
After Congressional Republicans led the charge to repeal health care reform, Rep. Joe Crowley (D-NY) introduced legislation Tuesday which requires every member of Congress to publicly disclose whether or not they do indeed receive federally funded health care.
“[Constituents] have a right to know if their representatives are walking the walk, and not just spitting out rhetoric,” Crowley said during a press conference.
Crowley, along with Reps. Linda Sanchez (D-CA.) and Donna Edwards (D-MD), stood alongside Ron Pollack, president of Families USA, to unveil the legislation, which they cast as a simple solution to exposing the truth behind the anti health care rhetoric that help GOP secure seats during mid-term elections.
