Boehner: Dems Dumped Budget Problems On Us
House Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio) is pointing his finger at Democrats for creating the budgetary “mess” the country is facing and said his liberal colleagues have been all but serious with ongoing budget negotiations
Although Boehner credited Senate Democrats for offering $6.5 billion in cuts, he said it just wasn’t enough.
“I think it’s time for them to get serious and they’re not serious, and it’s time to get serious about cutting spending, and the talks are going to continue but they aren’t going to get very far if they don’t get serious about doing what the American people expect them to do,” Boehner said.
The House Speaker went as far as to blaming Democrats putting the country in a situation where extensive budget reform is necessary.
“Listen, we’re trying to clean up last year’s mess,” the Speaker said. “The Democrats did no budget, they did no appropriations bills and as a result they’ve dumped this in our lap and we’re trying to clean it up.”
Congress has just over a week to work out an agreement. The House’s extension to the continuing resolution is scheduled to expire March 18.
