Obama Responds To Religion Rumors At National Prayer Breakfast
President Barack Obama brushed off ongoing rumors surrounding his religion during his remarks Thursday morning before the National Prayer Breakfast.
“My Christian faith has been a sustaining force for me over these last two years,” Obama said. “All the more so when Michelle and I here our faith questioned from time to time.
The President added, “We are reminded that what ultimately matters is not what other people say about us, but whether we’re being true to our conscience, true to our God.”
Although Obama has repeatedly stated that he is a Christian, evidence suggests there is still a sizeable chunk of the population who falsely believes Obama is a Muslim. In a poll conducted by the Pew Research center last summer,18 percent of those surveyed answered that the President is a Muslim while 43 percent responded that they are not sure what religion he is.
The National Prayer Breakfast is held annually at the Washington Hilton.
