Obama Calls For More Energy Efficient Buildings
During an appearance in Pennsylvania Thursday, President Barack Obama laid out the administration’s goal to make commercial buildings 20 percent more efficient by 2020.
Speaking from the Pennsylvania State Campus, Obama cast the plan as “one of the fastest, easiest and cheapest ways to save money, combat pollution and create jobs.”
The announcement is part of the White House’s “Win the Future” initiative laid out in the President’s State of the Union address last week. The administration has described it as a long-range agenda aimed at making investments in innovation and education.
The White House has not said how much the efficiency proposal will cost, but it is expected to be included in the upcoming budget request.
