Obama Condemns Libyan Violence

President Barack Obama commented on the ongoing situation in Libya Wednesday, condemning the state sponsored violence against protesters from despotic leader Muammar Gaddafi.

“The suffering and bloodshed is outrageous and is unacceptable,” Obama said from the White House’s grand foyer. “These actions violate international norms and every standard of common decency.”

Obama said that he will send Secretary of State Hillary Clinton to Geneva on Monday to help coordinate an international response to the situation.

The President argued that the Libyan government should be held responsible for violence against demonstrators, but declined to say what form any consequences should take.
