Congressional Democrats Signal Support For Wisconsin Workers

In light of the brawl in Wisconsin over collective bargaining, Rep. Keith Ellison (D-MN) said Governor Scott Walker’s vision for America resembles Nigeria or Pakistan.
During a conference call with two Wisconsin State Senators and Rep. Raul Grijalva(D-Ariz.), Ellison said cuts like these will lead to the U.S. having a “tiny, elite, corporate, wealthy community” with a large working class with no rights.
“We’re going to continue to fight for a big middle class we’re gonna keep the ladder of opportunity in place, we’re not gonna let them saw it in half,” Ellison said.
Grijalva argued that the situation in Wisconsin transcends into a larger national struggle with “radical Republican cuts.”
“We’ll be carrying the spirit of your battles on the floor of Congress, we’ll do everything we can to help you,” Grijalva said.
Wisconsin state Senate Democrats are still “in hiding” to protest Walker’s budget plan, though Minority Leader Mark Miller would not comment on what would happen if Walker doesn’t budge.
