Shake Up In Jordan, King Abdullah Dissolves Government

King Abdullah II of Jordan dissolved the country’s government Tuesday and brought on a new Prime Minister.

The move follows a series of protests in the country over inflation and unemployment. The new Prime Minister, Marouf Al Bakhit, is tasked with overseeing political reform in the country.

Al Bakhit served as Prime Minister previously from 2005-2007. He follows Prime Minister Samir Rifai, who is receiving the bulk of the blame for the country’s financial woes.

The tensions in Jordan coincide with the massive protests in Egypt and come on the heels of the drawdown of Tunisia’s government.
