OPINION: Is The Media More Harsh On Conservative Women?

NBC ‘s  Jimmy Fallon apologizes to Republican Presidential Candidate Congresswoman Michele Bachmann after a very demeaning song was played by his show band, The Roots. As Bachmann took the stage Monday night, the band played a snippet of the 1980’s song, “Lyin Ass B***h”.

Fallon took to Twitter to apologize. “I’m honored that @MicheleBachmann was on our show yesterday and I’m so sorry about the intro mess. I really hope she comes back,” Fallon said.

The late night host jokingly said that The Roots drummer, Questlove was grounded for the song choice.

Questlove is a known supporter of President Obama and has contributed to his campaign. The artist even has a picture of him and the President on his Twitter page.

Some are calling for NBC to issue an apology saying that Fallon’s Twitter apology was simply not enough.

This resurrects the notion that the liberal media takes jabs at conservative women. Earlier this year, people were outraged over the photo of Congresswoman Bachmann on Newsweek’s cover. Who could forget the controversial cover of former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin in her running shorts?

It may be fair to say that when it comes to women and politics, liberal and conservative media outlets are not so kind. First Lady Michelle Obama has been relentlessly attacked by conservative radio host Rush Limbaugh and Secretary of State Hillary Clinton has been the victim of brutal media attacks.
