Poll: Congressional Approval Sinks To Single Digits
Congressional approval has sunk to single digits, according to a New York Times/CBS poll released Wednesday.
The poll shows that only 9 percent of Americans approve of the legislative branch’s performance, as opposed to 84 percent who disapprove. The approval rating represents the lowest since the two media companies began polling in 1990.
The survey also found less overall trust in government. When asked how often they believe the government does what is right, only 10 percent of respondents replied “most” or “always” and 89 percent said “some” of the time or never. When the same question was asked this time last year, 21 percent said that the government acted correctly at least most of the time and 78 percent replied some or never.
The poll was conducted between October 19th and the 24th among 1,650 Americans, 1,475 of which were registered voters.
