Poll: Americans Prefer Occupy Wall Street Over Tea Party

It appears as if a large majority of Americans support the Occupy Wall Street demonstrations currently spreading across numerous cities over the conservative Tea Party movement.

According to a new poll from Time Magazine, 27 percent of respondents said that they had a somewhat to very favorable opinion of the Tea Party. In contrast, 54 percent voiced at least some favorability for the demonstrators currently camped out in New York’s financial district.

The poll shows that 34 percent of respondents replied that the Tea Party has had a positive impact on the country, whereas 40 percent said it was negative. Although the Occupy Wall Street movement is just several weeks old, 30 percent said that they believe it will have a positive impact on the U.S., 9 percent replied negative and 56 percent said it will have little impact.

The poll was conducted between October 9th and 10th among 1,001 Americans. It was released on Wednesday.
