White House Replacements Still Unnamed
The White House has not yet indicated who will fill a handful of prominent positions that will be vacated in the administration’s post-midterm shakeup.
White House Press Secretary Robert Gibbs officially announced yesterday that he would be leaving his post in the briefing room. Deputy Press Secretary Bill Burton and Jay Carney, a spokesman for Vice President Joe Biden, have both been floated as possible replacements.
As for Chief of Staff, there are rumblings that the President may choose either interim Chief Pete Rouse or former Commerce Secretary Bill Daley as a permanent replacement for Rahm Emanuel, who left the White House last fall.
National Economic Council Director Larry Summers will likely be replaced by Gene Sperling, an advisor to Treasury Secretary Tim Geithner.
