Poll: Christie Leads Obama In 2012 Matchup
New Jersey Governor Chris Christie could beat Obama in 2012’s White House race, according to a new Zogby poll.
Out of seven potential contenders, Christie is the only Republican that voters would favor over Obama, albeit via a slim 43-40 percent margin.
“Christie’s blunt talk about public employees and his aggressive actions on the New Jersey state budget have made him very popular both within the Republican Party and with independents,” Pollster John Zogby said in a statement. “His style and appearance would present quite the contrast to that of the President. He adds not only an alternative governing philosophy, but also real efforts at cutting spending.”
Christie has said that he has no intention to run for office.
Mitt Romney, Sarah Palin, Mike Huckabee, Mitch Daniels, Tim Pawlenty and John Thune were the other candidates floated in the poll.
