Reports: Obama To Attend Tucson Victims’ Memorial Service
President Barack Obama will travel to Arizona Wednesday to attend a memorial service for the victims of Saturday’s shooting in Tucson, according to a handful of media reports.
On Monday, the President held a moment of silence at the White House to honor the victims. He has also ordered all flags on federal grounds to be flown at half-mast until sundown Friday. Following a meeting with French President Nicolas Sarzkozy Monday, Obama said “there is no doubt that we will establish some mechanism, memorial, during the course of the next several days.”
Rep. Gabrielle Giffords (D-Ariz.) remains in critical condition after being shot in the head by a gunman Saturday outside of a Tucson-based grocery store. Six others were killed in the attack, including a Federal Judge, a staffer for Giffords and a nine year old girl.
Suspect Jared Lee Loughner is being held without bail. He is facing five federal charges.
