Ohio Democrats Slam Boehner For 'Misinformation Campaign'

By Sofia Sanchez University of New Mexico/Talk Radio News Service

Ohio Democrats did not let their disdain with fellow Ohioan House Minority Leader John Boehner (R) go unnoticed Thursday during a press conference to highlight tax cuts for workers in the buckeye state.

Sen. Sherrod Brown (D-Ohio) referred to Boehner’s rhetoric toward the Democrats' economic policies as a “misinformation campaign” against the American people.

“When it comes to specifics, [Boehner] loses this debate because he knows these are real tax cuts that we have given,” said Sen. Sherrod Brown (D-Ohio.).”He knows that the Democrats in the last twenty years have shown responsible actions of dealing with the budget deficit and he knows the Republicans haven’t.”

Rep. John Boccieri (D-Ohio) added that the Recovery Act played a role in lowering taxes.

“40 percent of the Recovery Package were tax breaks for American middle class families,” said Boccieri. “So, when they want to reward [their] wealthy donors and they want to reward Wall Street, we want to reward middle class families.”

As the press briefing closed, Rep. Steve Driehus (D-Ohio.) took one last hit at Boehner.

“He doesn’t let facts get in the way and that has been shown time and time again,” said Driehus. ”Anytime Mr. Boehner wants to come to Ohio, where he spends very little time, and debate any one of us on job creation, or the housing crisis, I am open to it.”

What % of the tax breaks go to people not paying taxes? If they don't pay taxes how can it be a break?
