House Minority Leader John Boehner (R-Ohio) said Thursday that violence and threats are an unacceptable way of expressing disdain toward any political debate, including health care reform.
“Find your candidate, call your Congressman, go out and register people to vote, volunteer on a campaign, make your voice heard, but do it in the right way,” Boehner said.
Boehner said two states have already passed measures that would prohibit the federal government from punishing citizens who do not purchase health insurance, and 37 others are considering similar actions.
“The ink isn’t even dry and there is a grassroots revolt over this bill,” he said.
When asked about a statement he made calling Rep. Steve Driehaus (D-Ohio) a “dead man” for voting to pass health care, Boehner explained that he meant 'politically.'
“No one saw this quote until Congressman Driehaus and others made an issue of it,” said Boehner.

Thank you for speaking out against violent intentions. Unfortunately the heat of the rhetoric has suggested to people that any action is acceptable in defense of what they believe. Please, counsel a more reasoned and less inflammatory response in future. This is just wrong.
I was Republican until this party lost its soul.
