TRNS Interviews: Lynn Rosenthal
TRNS Bureau Chief Ellen Ratner talks with the White House Adviser on Violence Against Women Lynn Rosenthal from the Liz Claiborne Radio Row in New York City, N.Y.
Rosenthal says the White House has recently announced the appointment of a new advisory committee on violence against women that is multi-disciplinary and is aimed at helping advise U.S. Attorney General and the Department of Health and Human Services on the needs of children from violent homes and providing recovery institutions for these same kids.
Rosenthal also tells of initiatives Vice President Joe Biden is taking, in collaboration with the Department of Justice, private law firms, domestic violence service providers and law school clinics, to provide domestiv violence victims with legal guidance. New “pilot sites” have been set up in New Orleans and Baltimore where 3rd year law students will represent domestic violence victims while in school, will then be hired by firms while they work at a domestic violence service providers.
