Reid Shelves Omnibus Bill

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) has shelved the omnibus spending bill amid concerns that it doesn’t have the votes.

As an alternative, the Senate will take on a continuing resolution to extend current levels of spending until the next Congress comes into session.

Reid issued a statement casting the decision as a step to avoid government shut down and fulfill the rest of the Democratic agenda.

It is critical we do everything in our power to make sure that we keep our government operating,” Reid said.

The Senate will take on the DREAM Act and the repeal of Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell over the weekend.
