Boehner Taking A "We'll See" Attitude On Possibility Of Future Compromises

Although incoming Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio) supported the tax deal struck between the White House and congressional Republicans, he would not confirm whether he believed similar compromises could be reached in the future.

“One day at a time,” Boehner quipped when asked during a press conference Friday if the recent compromise would be the last one.

“I was glad we were able to come to an agreement,” Boehner added. “No one can predict what next month will look like, or next year.”

Boehner said that he intends to be fair with the President, but that he will also acknowledge last month’s election results.

Neither Boehner or current Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) will be attending the Friday’s signing ceremony for the tax deal at the White House.
