Obama Administration Sues BP For Spill-Related Damages 

Oil giant BP and eight others who played a role in the largest oil spill in U.S. history are named as defendents in a new lawsuit announced Wednesday by the U.S. Department of Justice.

According to a DOJ news release, “The lawsuit asks the court for civil penalties under the Clean Water Act and to declare eight of the defendants liable without limitation under the Oil Pollution Act for all removal costs and damages caused by the oil spill, including damages to natural resources.”
