Poll: 59 Percent Of Voters Think GOP Will Disappoint

According to a Rasmussen poll conducted this week, 59 percent of likely voters think they will be disappointed with the newly empowered Republican party’s performance by 2012, the next national election.

38 percent of voters said that it was “very likely” that Republicans would fail to live up to expectations. 33 percent of those polled said it was unlikely Americans would be disappointed and 15 percent said it is “not at all likely.”

The result coincides with major Republican gains in Congress. The GOP picked up 60 seats in the House, overshadowing Democrat’s 39 seat majority. Republicans made a 6 seat gain in the Senate, but failed to take control of the upper chamber.

The telephone survey was conducted among 1,000 likely voters between Nov. 1 through 2nd and specifically asked “If Republicans win control of the House of Representatives, how likely is it that most voters will be disappointed with Republicans in Congress before  the 2012 elections?”. There is a three percent margin of error.
