Obama Begins Ten-Day Trip In India
President Barack Obama escaped Washington D.C. and the aftermath of Tuesday’s “shellacking” Friday in a trip to Mumbai, India.
Obama, joined by the First Lady, is embarking upon the longest international tour of his presidency paying visits to Indonesia, South Korea, Japan and India in a ten-day tour.
His first stop in India is said to hold economic implications as the president plans to meet with both U.S. and Indian business with hopes of finalizing commercial deals, including the possible purchase of Boeing aircraft by India.
Obama is scheduled to return on November 14, just one day before Congress enters a lame-duck session, where the president and congressional Democrats hope to engage in compromising conversation with the newly-empowered Republican party regarding health care overhaul, Bush-era tax cuts and many other issues.
