Times Square Terror Suspect Gets Life Sentence, Says He's "Happy With The Deal God Has Given Me"
Faisal Shahzad, the man arrested for trying to detonate a home made car bomb in Times Square in May, was sentenced to life in prison in a New York court this morning.
A U.S. citizen originally from Pakistan, Shahzad, 31, pleaded guilty to a 10-count indictment in June, including the main charge of conspiracy to use a weapon of mass destruction. Shahzad said he received about $12,000 in cash to help fund the attack.
Prosecutors from the U.S. attorney’s office in New York alleged Shahzad received explosives training in Pakistan in December from people affiliated with militant Islamic extremist groups based in the region.
“Brace yourselves, the war with Muslims has just begun,” Shahzad said.
