Obama Has Put Democrats In Vulnerable Position, Says Former Reagan Aide
Depending on which polls you look at, Republicans will gain anywhere between 40 and 60 seats in the House when ballots are cast on Tuesday. And for the most part, some say, it’s not because of anything they have really done.
Clark Judge, a former speechwriter-turned-advisor to President Ronald Reagan, agrees with the aforementioned assertion. Judge told me on Friday that with only four days to go before the elections, President Barack Obama has made it impossible for Democrats to stem a surge of GOP momentum that has been brewing for more than a year.
“This election is about spending,” Judge said. “If the Republicans win big, it’s a big stop-sign to the spending.”
Judge said that while Obama’s healthcare and financial reform laws represented major legislative accomplishments, they failed to jumpstart the nation’s economy, thus garnering broad opposition from the public.
The President, said Judge, “started with the message, ‘Do what I want to do and things will get better.’ Instead they got worse.”
