Don't Ask, Don't Tell Reinstated
Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell has been reinstated after a federal appeals court Wednesday granted the Obama administration’s request for a temporary stay on a district judge’s order to halt the policy.
A three judge panel from the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals issued the following order:
“This court has received appellant’s emergency motion to stay the district court’s October 12, 2010 order pending appeal. The order is stayed temporarily in order to provide this court with an opportunity to consider fully the issues presented.”
Log Cabin Republicans, the organization that initially took legal action against the policy barring gays from openly serving in the military, has until October 25th to oppose the motion.
The Obama administration is currently attempting to repeal the policy via legislative means. A military study on how to responsibly wind down DADT will be concluded by the Department of Defense on December 1st.
