Obama Unveils New Plans To Boost Middle Class
By Monique Cala- Talk Radio News Service/ University of New Mexico
President Barack Obama and Vice President Joe Biden outlined steps Monday the administration will take to alleviate financial burdens facing the middle class.
“Creating good, sustainable jobs is the single most important thing we can do to rebuild the middle class," said Obama. "I wont rest until we are doing just that."
Significant steps include a 35% childcare tax credit for families making under $85,000 a year coupled with programs aimed at providing elderly care, easier ways to pay off student loans and retirement security.
“We need to reverse the overall erosion in middle class security so when this economy does come back, working Americans are free to pursue their dreams again,” the president added.
Monday's announcement comes a year after the White House's Middle Class Task Force was initiated. The Middle Class Task Force is expected to put out the full year-end report next week.
