5,000 U.S. Troops To Aid Haiti In Disaster Relief
The U.S. humanitarian effort in quake-rocked will include the commitment of approximately 5,000 U.S. soldiers.
According to the Pentagon, not all troops will be deployed on-ground. Some will be on stand-by.
In addition to troops, vessels equipped with medical capabilities, such as operating rooms, are en-route to Haiti. One will bring 16 helicopters.
There are no estimates from the Defense Department on how long the U.S. expects to commit resources for.
The U.S Is closely monitoring what other countries are providing to ensure supplied resources compliment the international aid effort.
