Senate Minority Leader Accuses Obama Of Being 'Consumed' By Focus On Detainee Rights
Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell accused the Obama administration Tuesday of sacrificing national security in their focus on detainees rights.
“We see this preoccupation with prisoners’ rights, both on foreign battlefield and here at home, that seems to be consuming the administration in this war on terror,” said McConnell. “I think it’s wrong headed.”
The minority leader claimed that the administration’s concerns have lead to confusion amongst the military, and recounted a situation in which a U.S. general attempted to consult his lawyer before answering a question on detainee policy.
