Boehner: Obama Must Clarify Afghanistan Strategy, Allow McChrystal To Testify
By Justin Duckham-Talk Radio News Service
House Minority Leader John Boehner (R-Ohio) called upon President Barack Obama Thursday to clarify his Afghanistan strategy.
“Now the President is reportedly questioning his own strategy and may actually change the mission,” said Boehner during a news briefing. “It’s time for the President to clarify where he stands because the longer we wait the more we put our troops in risk.”
Boehner repeated his desire to have General Stanley McChrystal, who commands U.S. forces in Afghanistan, testify before Congress. House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer (D-Md.) echoed a similar sentiment Wednesday.
When asked when he would like to hear McChrystal’s testimony, Boehner replied “Tomorrow would be just fine.”
The Obama administration is waiting to review McChrystal’s Afghanistan report before authorizing the four-star General to make a Capitol Hill appearance.
