Nuclear Policy: A Road-Map for Action?

In a brief hearing today nuclear and space policies were discussed by experts like Dr. Craig Eisendrath, Chairman of the Project for Nuclear Awareness, and Steven Starr, Physicians for Social Responsibility.
The issue regarding how to create a nuclear free future was on the agenda. Implementing a treaty which supports this, was presented as a solution.
The threats that nuclear weapon brings was also brought up, " Nuclear was fought with 100 Hiroshima-size weapons would cause major disruptions of global climate and massive destruction of Earth's protective ozone layer", Starr stated in his report.
Starr also mentioned that the "U.S.-Russian war that are fought with a few thousand strategic nuclear weapons would cause deadly climate change and environmental devastation which would kill most people on Earth."
Current treaties such as CTBT, Comprehensive Test Ban Treaty, prohibits all contact that are in anyway associated with nuclear weapon. This means that all nuclear armed countries have to destroy their nuclear weapon in stages and finally prevent that nuclear weapon cannot be created again, according to Starr.
Dr. Eisendrath also brougth up the importance of cooperation between Democrats and Republican, to ratify necessary treaties and to help supporting anti-nuclear policies.

This is very important stuff! Nuclear weapons, as Starr points out, are as much of an existential threat as climate change-- in fact, they can cause a kind of "instant" nuclear climate change.
On space policy, Craig Eisendrath is one of the top three experts, perhaps, in the world. I would commend you to his book, War in Heaven, which shows how to prevent a trillion-dollar space arms race, at a time when we need all our funds for economic recovery.
