Israeli Ambassador To US Says Obama Scores Lowest Ever In Israeli Polls
Israeli Ambassador to the United States Michael Oren addressed US-Israeli Relations at the Hudson Institute on Thursday.
Amb. Oren addressed a common concern that American and Israelis share about Iranian nuclear ambitions, and said that his administration will continue to support President Barack Obama and his negotiations with the Iranians. He added that the U.S and Israel have cooperated very well on several issues, such as the Goldstone Mission Report, which was a U.N. led fact finding mission on human rights violations during the 2008 Gaza War between Israel and Hamas.
Oren said that in Israeli polls, Obama is scoring the lowest ever in terms of Israeli belief that he will support Israel.
The Ambassador said he hopes that "Israelis will make immense risks...to trust the administration. We have to get this number up to move forward...in the peace process."
He concluded by saying that he is confident that the US-Israel alliance will continue to stay strong.
