- The National Campaign to Close Guantanamo holds a conference call to launch a nationwide grassroots campaign to shut down Guantanamo Prison.

- Sen. Jack Reed (D-R.I.) Sen. Jeanne Shaheen (D-N.H.) Senate Rules and Administration Chairman Charles Schumer (D-N.Y.) Sen. Debbie Stabenow (D-Mich.) Sen. Sherrod Brown (D-Ohio) Sen. Bob Casey (D-Pa.) Sen. Amy Klobuchar (D-Minn.) Sen. Ted Kaufman (D-Del.) Sen. Michael Bennet (D-Colo.) Sen. Al Franken (D-Minn.) and Sen. Paul Kirk (D-Mass.) hold a news conference on the "urgent need to extend unemployment benefits."

- House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer (D-Md.) Rep. Mark Schauer (D-Mich.) and Jim Williams, CEO of Easter Seals hold a photo opportunity to highlight "the urgency of health insurance reform for children with pre-existing conditions."

- The National Women's Law Center (NWLC) holds a events to launch a new public awareness campaign.

- NDN holds a news conference to oppose a proposed amendment by Sens. David Vitter (R-La.) and Robert Bennett (R-Utah) that would require the Census Bureau to add a citizenship status question to the 2010 Census.

- The National Football League (NFL); and the American Cancer Society Cancer Action Network (ACS CAN) hold a news conference on the National Breast and Cervical Early Detection Program.

- Americans for Financial Reform holds a conference call briefing to urge Congress not to exempt any "special interest, including financing from car dealers," from the Consumer Financial Protection Agency.

- House Financial Services Committee full committee markup of H.R.3126, the "Consumer Financial Protection Agency Act of 2009"; H.R.3763, to amend the Fair Credit Reporting Act to provide for an exclusion from Red Flag Guidelines for certain businesses; and H.R.3639, the "Expedited CARD Reform for Consumers Act of 2009."

- Senate Judiciary Committee Administrative Oversight and the Courts Subcommittee hearing on "Medical Debt: Can Bankruptcy Reform Facilitate a Fresh Start?"

- Survivaballs will rally to highlight the urgent need for climate action, urging senators to either support climate legislation that moves the world toward a global climate treaty.
