Monday Morning Conference Call with Rick Davis, McCain Campaign Manager
Senator John McCain (R - AZ) campaign manager Rick Davis held a conference call Monday morning to discuss the schedule for the week and fundraising. An information center has been established in the Xcel Energy Center for delegates and participants to monitor the weather in the southern states.
Campaign manager Rick Davis said Laura Bush will introduce a video and Cindy McCain will address the delegates following todays official events. The speech will be mostly non-political and will ask for hurricane relief.
The McCain campaign, in conjunction with Target and FedEx, is also creating 80,000 "comfort packages" that will go to the regions impacted by Hurricane Gustav. The packages will be assembled at the convention site beginning Wednesday morning. Volunteers interested in helping to pack the contents of the packages will be accepted then.
McCain's campaign has begun a fundraising effort together with five governors from the affected region. They will identify charitabble organizations able to assist those impacted by the hurricane. In addition to working with those at the convention to raise money, the campaign has also set up a phone bank at the Minneapolis Hilton manned by a team of volunteers. These efforts will concentrate on reaching out to McCain's previous donors.

I am really getting fed up with Obama's mud-slinging on VP Nominee Gov. Sarah Palin. I am a Republican and proud of it, except I am tired of the Republicans being so-o-o nice. When the right time approaches, take off the gloves and bring to the publics attention the Rezko & the VIP special Mtge Loan thru Countrywide Credit that was on the Chgo news and no more being said since Obama's primer run & winning the nomination. Also, his affliation with William Ayers as well as I believe Joe Biden. I heard today on the Fox News that the Democrats are mentioning Gov. Palin's children and the Sexist attitude of her working. What about all the women Democrate politicians out their with children. How about Obama's wife with a $320M+ job as an attorney with two small children. Now they are mentioning Gov. Palin's husband, 22 yrs. ago with a DUI. They weren't even married. If they want to bring that up, how about Teddy Kennedy with drunk driving and the murder of Mary Jo Kopeckty (excuse spelling). Obama's camp is trying to say the lack of experience with Gov. Palin because they want to take the heat off Obama's LACK OF EXPERIENCE, of course they only bring up as Mayor and not as Governor and running a state. I will mark this site as my fovorite and as I hear more mud-slinging, I will think on more to reverse their total arrogance. Thank you for your time in reviewing this comment and hope that I hear some of these responses back at the Democrats and Obama. I know you will research these and that is good. We also need to take back the House, so I don't have to see or hear from Pelosi and to take the Senate back so we can get back to business.
