Ron Paul on "The Revolution"
Congressman and Republican presidential contender Ron Paul (R-TX) addressed a crowd at a discussion and signing to promote his new book, The Revolution: A Manifesto, currently a number-one bestseller on Amazon.com. Dr. Paul, who will continue to run for the presidency despite Sen. John McCain’s (R-AZ) presumed nomination, said the purpose of his book is to “galvanize” the American people and foster enthusiasm about civil liberties and a return to American libertarian principles.
Paul described his main objective as respect for and adherence to the U.S. Constitution, and said that “it’s sad that just obeying the Constitution is a revolutionary idea.” He said he uses the word “revolution” cautiously, and advocates a “nonviolent” one that would restore civil liberties and reduce the influence of the Federal government. He said that Congress and the judicial system “ignore the Constitution” and have allowed the Fourth Amendment to erode over time. After 9/11, Paul said some members of the government “showed cheer” because it represented an opportunity to infringe on civil liberties with measures such as the Patriot Act.
Paul expressed appreciation for young voters, whom he said have grown passionate about preserving the Constitution, and said his supporters have been energized by his “optimism,” which he said means analyzing problems and then seeking solutions. He said the young generation “has to make a decision” about what they want the role of their government to be, and said that he thinks that role is to “preserve liberty, not run our lives, run our economy, and police the world.”
Paul deplored the fact that to oppose war earns the label of a “left-winger,” and said “I don’t think it’s left-wing to say, ‘Why are we fighting a war that was never declared?’” He also said that at one point, his campaign received more donations from military personnel than all other presidential candidates combined. Paul said he thinks “we live in dangerous times,” and that foreign policy occupation will lead to a “crisis” in America. In reference to criticism of former Pres. Bill Clinton as a “nation-builder” during his term in the 1990s as opposed to the current rise in foreign occupation with Pres. Bush’s administration, Paul said that “Americans have very short memories, and Muslims and Arabs never forget anything.”
When asked where he sees the government headed, Paul said he thinks the U.S. is “moving more towards fascism” than lawlessness because of growing governmental intervention in the form of “big corporations,” “secret prisons, and the loss of habeas corpus.” He said he thinks that “the empire will end” because the U.S. cannot sustain its present course and continue to finance its global objectives.

Excellent article, very objectively reported. This is the hallmark of journalism. MSM reporters should take note, and I highly recommend that any report not able to see the objectivity here, order 'Requirements of Objective Journalism' here : http://www.aynrandbookstore2.com/prodinfo.asp?number=HS58M
Anyone even vaguely interested in actually thinking about where we are at, and where we should be, as a nation, needs to get a copy of Ron Paul's recently released book, "The Revolution: A Manifesto". It is the "Conscience of a Nation" of our time.
Ron Paul is a founding father walking amongst us. Will you treat him with the respect that he deserves, and consider his words?
Is it time yet for real men to be strong enough to support Ron Paul? Sean Hanity, Kirby Wilbur, and most who are still putting McCain in a box that won't fit and won't stay very long. He is not an honest Ronald Reagan. Ron Paul is more.
A NEW HOPE
We all have been living a nightmare. A vision D. Eisenhower warned of in his 1961 farewell address to the nation. In his address, Eisenhower warned of the corruption of our government, our society, and our culture by the MILITARY INDUSTRIAL COMPLEX. It seems that, as a nation, we have not listened. Eisenhower’s dire vision has become our reality. And from this fearful dream, this nation is waking. Our eyes are opening to the truth collectively for the first time. WE THE PEOPLE are finding that we have been subjugated, placated into ignorance and fear, lied to by the very people we have entrusted to preserve and protect our rights, liberties, and our constitution. Many will turn away in fear of truth and close their eyes once again. To open our eyes to this reality, is to also understand that we are all responsible for it as well. complacency and dependence upon the machine keeps THE PEOPLE in line because it is convenient and safe. We have sold our souls. We have as a nation let this happen to ourselves.
My heart breaks for the people of this nation. Our government wages war upon our freedoms, liberties, and our constitution. I watch our republic’s destruction, not to the sound of guns or bombs, but to the sound of thunderous applause of those held captive by terrified patriotic blindness, guided by the propaganda of fear, as we give our rights and even the lives of our fellow man for the profit of the corrupt. A fear that is erasing our great history of freedom and repeating itself 70 years later with another dictatorship of war, under the guise of homeland security and the protection of the people.
BUT THERE IS STILL HOPE.
With love and openness, we can overcome ignorance and fear. It is our right as the people, and my duty as a United States MARINE written into our constitution by our founding fathers, entrusted to us, by the people, to ensure that our liberty, freedom, and the constitution never again become the subjugation of the corruption that we have wrought upon ourselves. We must take back our country, and give it to the people. So let us open our hearts, take responsibility, and make our HOPE become our reality. Lets begin REVOLUTION. His name
Dr. Ron Paul
...said that he thinks that role is to “preserve liberty, not run our lives, run our economy, and police the world.”
This isn't a matter of what Ron Paul or anyone else "thinks". Read the bleeding constitution. The intent is clear. Our government is supposed to be protecting our freeedoms and not sacrificing them in the vain hope that they will buy some temporary security.
Please don't sell your children into debt slavery.
Ron Pual's book has the potential to go a long way to waking up "We the People". Read it if you care about your children's future. Expect a little culture shock when you wake up to the "world that has been pulled over your eyes to blind you from the truth."
Peace
" McCain's official nomination"? I thought that was still undecided until the convention. Abe Lincoln was a virtual unknown until the convention at which time he was able to obtain the nomination and eventually win the general election. Call me idealistic, but I believe Ron Paul still has a chance.

""Ron Paul is a founding father walking amongst us. Will you treat him with the respect that he deserves, and consider his words?""
Yes.
The brief article was interesting, and Dr. Paul, or anyone else who might end the reign of big government republicrats has my vote, but you would have more credibility if you spelled "habeas corpus" correctly. Sloppy.
Jonny H: Thanks for bringing that to our attention. I've corrected it.
I highly doubt that George Washington, Benjamin Franklin, Thomas Jefferson or any of the founding fathers of the United States of America would be the least bit impressed with the population of this country could they see it today. Folks came here to escape oppression. Now history is repeating itself and most of America is so busy keeping their head in the sand they haven't a clue that over decades they have slowly voted away their freedom and the true meaning of what being an American actually means.
"Give me you your tired, your poor and your hungry."
HELLO! Can you afford to keep your house? Can you afford to put gas in your car? Can you afford to buy healthy, high quality food? Can you afford new clothes or medical treatment? Can you afford health insurance? Do you have the land to grow your own food now that you cannot afford to drive to the store let alone purchase much more than mac & cheese?
How feeling of Washington to give us a few paltry hundred dollars to "jump start the economy". I don't know about the rest of you but the only thing it will buy is some gas and food there is no money for now. The income the nation might have gained from the gasoline will go to some Arabs. The income the nation might have gained for the food will go to Mexico. If you spend it buying a new TV it will go to Japan. If you buy clothes the money will go to Taiwan. Now whose economy will this boost? Certainly not the USA's!
Don't you think it is time that the American People regained some control over their sovereignty? If there is no upholding of the constitution then exactly WHAT is American? Tired, poor and hungry - oppressed and policed to the point that the clock will swiftly turn back to life in the Middle Ages. Are you ready to be a serf? Do you think this is far fetched? Clear your brain and THINK again. The groundwork for what is happening today was laid many decades ago. Walk softly and carry a big stick. Are you prepared for the final blows? Or are you smarter than the puppets who make up the current government?
You have 3 choices people. You can vote Republican. You can vote Democrat. Or you can be an American by voting for your freedom ... vote for Ron Paul.
