This morning, the President spoke with the South Korean President and was briefed on the discussions of the Inter-Korean Summit last week. The two agreed that the far most important issue is the denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula.

Fran Townsend, the Assistant to the President for homeland security and counterterrorism, will hold a conference call at 10.30 to discuss it. The purpose of the strategy is to guide, organize, and unify the nation's homeland security efforts. This is the first update since the 2002 report. The reports is based on significantly enhanced understanding of the threats that we face, and how state, local and federal government can all work together in order to protect the country.

Schedule Announcement: The President will travel to Florida on Friday, where he will attend a RNC reception, and later that day make remarks on trade policy in Miami as well as recognizing Hispanic Heritage Month. The President will spend the weekend in Crawford, TX. On Monday, there will be travel, and more information on this will be available later, and the President returns to the White House Monday evening.

White House Press Secretary Dana Perino will brief the press at 12.30 pm today.

Post Article on Iraq

Perino went back to the President's meeting with the Iraqi President at the White House last week. There are some in the government that are not willing to work together and there are others that are, Perino said.

Controversy about the release of the latest Bin Laden video

We were very concerned about it," Perino said. Any time an American citizen comes forward to the federal government to provide information, which they encourage, they know that their sources will be protected. When the White House receives that information, we refer it to the Intelligence Community. Perino referred questions regarding problems in that process to the Director of National Intelligence. When asked if the White House was the source of the leak, she said that they were not.

Gordon Brown's Announcement

When asked for comments on the British Prime Minister's announcement of British troop withdrawal, Perino said that this was consistent with what they had talked about earlier. "We understand that General Petreus is comfortable with it, and the President is too," Perino stated.

No Child Left Behind Reauthorization

When asked if there are any areas within the Act that needs to be revisited, Perino said that there area few things that the President will bring up. However, Perino first said that there are few areas that they need to keep, such as that of every child being able to read and do math at grade level at 2014. White House said that they are showing results of closing the achievement gap, but that it cannot stop now.
