Clinton says she stands for Universal Health Care

At the CWA Conference, Senator Hillary Clinton (D-NY) says when she will provide health care to every Americans, no "ifs, ands or buts," and this is a big difference in this campaign. I have a plan for Universal Health Care. John Edwards had a plan for Universal Health care, but Senator Obama does not. It's a core democratic value that the Democratic party nominate someone who will go "toe to toe" with John McCain on the issue of Universal Health Care. "What do we stand for," she says, "if we don't stand for Universal Health Care?" (:29)

At the CWA Conference, Senator Hillary Clinton (D-NY) says she was somewhat surprised to hear that Senator McCain said he would put privatizing Social Security "back on the table." Well, she says, there's not going to be any chance of that happening when I'm president. We're going to strengthen Social Security so that we can count on it far into the future. (:25)

Clinton says we need to shift priorities in the tax code

At the CWA Conference, Senator Hillary Clinton (D-NY) says when she says solutions, she says, she will rebuild the middle class, and will end 55 billion dollars in tax breaks for oil companies, drug companies, insurance companies, and Wall Street, and will give that money back to hard working middle class families instead. You will get more help with student loans, health care for all, and millions of jobs that cannot be sent overseas because they will be created right here. I will cut middle class taxes, she says, by at least 100 billion dollars a year, and I will let taxes increase on people earning more than $250,000 a year. They have had their run, it's time we shifted our priorities in the tax code. (:50)

Clinton says "No trade deal with Columbia"

At the CWA Conference, Senator Hillary Clinton (D-NY) says she believes we need a time-out on new trade deals until there is a new trade policy that is truly pro-worker and pro-union. That means no trade deal with Columbia as violence with trade unionists continues. (:25)

Clinton says she will give broadband the attention it deserves

At the CWA Conference, Senator Hillary Clinton (D-NY) says she wants to connect all of America to the Global Economy through a national broadband policy. We often say, she says, that new technology is bringing the world together but that's only true if you're wired into it. In 2000, we were fourth in the world with broadband access, and today we are 24th. America can rise to meet any challenge we take on, and she says she has proposed a national broadband strategy called "Connect America" to finally give broadband access the urgent attention it deserves. This strategy is based on the principles laid out in the Your Speed Matters campaign. (:57)

Clinton says she will remember she works for the people

At the CWA Conference, Senator Hillary Clinton (D-NY) says it's time now that the American people have a president that gets up every day in the White House and thinks about what needs to be done to improve the incomes, jobs, health care, and education of the American people. A president, she says, that rolls up her sleeves and goes to work every day for the people. One who remembers that the American people are the ones they work for, not the special interests or the "cronies." From my perspective, we need a Commander in Chief that is ready on day one to end the war in Iraq and bring our sons and daughters home as quickly and safely as possible. (:51)

Clinton says we're fighting for the very future of America

At the CWA Conference, Senator Hillary Clinton (D-NY) says we need unions in the hard times, too. Because "you know what it's like to fight for the underdog." You know what it's like to stand up and keep going against the odds, and you know what it's like to be told to go away and quit, and so do I. We're fighting for the very future of America. It's not a cause for the fainthearted, and it's not a cause for those who get discouraged by a little criticism. We're going to take back our country, she says, and we're going to put it back on the right track to have the kind of future America deserves. (:57)

Clinton says she will not squash the union bug

At the CWA Conference, Senator Hillary Clinton (D-NY) says that for the last seven years we've had a President and Vice President that want to squash the union "bug," and they're not trying to work with the unions. They've increased funding, she says, that goes towards harassing unions but cutting funding that goes towards worker health and safety. You would think that after the disasters we've had, that would be an easy sell, but they want to privatize any job they can. Make no mistake about it, this privatizing, outsourcing, no-bid contract binge we've been on is contest America more and when I'm President, I'm going to end it. (1:10)
