Sen. McCain Asks What Civilian Strategy For Afghanistan Is

Senator John McCain (R-Ariz.) asked what the U.S. civilian strategy in Afghanistan is during a Senate Armed Services Committee hearing Tuesday.

"What is our strategy for helping the Afghans build economic and political order after we clear a whole ground? What is our strategy for supporting Afghan leaders in reforming and strengthening their government? What is our strategy for working with President Karzai and getting the best performance possible from him and his government?" McCain asked. (0:36)

Retired General Wesley Clark Says Obama Administration Must Get Afghanistan Strategy "Exactly Right"

Gen. Wesley Clark (ret.) said Tuesday that it is important for the Obama administration to "get the strategy exactly right" when formulating their plans for Afghanistan.

"Figure out where you're going. How do we get out of here? Because our presence long term there is not a good thing. We're playing into the hands of people who don't like foreigners in a country that's not tolerant of diversity. And that's not going to change," Clark said. (0:22)
