Pelosi: Public Will See Through Insurance Industry's Misinformation

Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif) says that the health insurance industry is waging a war of disinformation against the health care reform bill in order to maintain the status quo. The Speaker says that members of Congress will work throughout the August recess to promote their message and "set the record straight." The President of Afghanistan Hamid Karzai arrives at the U.S. Capitol for a meeting with the bi-partisan leadership of the House of Representatives.
President Karzai said: "The Afghan people with the journey that they began with the United States after the tragedy of September 11, have really seen that this friendship pays off."

At her weekly press conference, Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) spoke of her delight at the budget approval in the House.
Speaker Pelosi said, “It reduces the deficit. It reduces taxes for 95 per cent of the American people. It is a job creator in every respect. When it comes to a greener America and clean energy, it creates new green jobs. When it comes to the education of our children, creating a global workforce for the 21st century, it creates jobs. When it comes to making to making America healthier through prevention, bio-medical research and technological advancement, it creates jobs.”

Pelosi told reporters: “We see the outrage of the American people in terms of bonuses paid by AIG and perhaps others who have received TARP funds and on the floor of the House today we will present legislation to address the concerns of the American people. To bring some justice to the situation and to get the taxpayers money back.”
