Allen: BP Would Be "Delighted" To Finish Relief Well

National Incident Commander Admiral Thad Allen tells reporters in a conference call, Friday, that despite pressure test results showing a possible situation in which conducting a bottom kill could endanger the well’s integrity, BP officials would be “delighted” to show that they could, “drill down over 17,00 feet below sea level and hit a 7-inch pipe.” (0:29)

Thad Allen: Well Kill "Important Step," But Not Complete

The administration’s point man on the BP-Deepwater Horizon Oil Spill, National Incident Commander Admiral Thad Allen, tells a White House press conference Wednesday that, although the static kill is a “very important step,” the Macondo well kill will not be complete until BP has effectively conducted the bottom kill procedure once the relief wells have been finished.
