Bernath: "Basically we lie to children about the dangers of marijuana."

Dan Bernath, the Director of Communications at the Marijuana Policy Project, in Washington, D.C., said that the U.S. needs proven effects based education programs regarding marijuana and other drugs, especially for our kids. Bernath said “Basically we lie to children about the dangers of marijuana. Kids aren’t stupid, you know, and when they encounter these drugs for the first time, marijuana, and they discover that the world doesn’t come crashing around them like they’ve been told it would in their D.A.R.E. programs, they become skeptical and they start to wonder what else they’ve been lied to about.” (00:41)

Drug price disparities between the U.S. and Canada

U.S. Senator Amy Klobuchar (D-Minn.) says that after Ovation Pharmaceuticals acquired the rights to the drug Indocin from Merck, they quickly increased the price by more than 18 times. Klobuchar points out that eventhough it is an American company, the price they charge is 44 times higher than what they sell it for in Canada.
