Kate Hanni: Trying To Keep America's Skies Friendly

Jonathan Bronstein interviews aviation passenger rights advocate Kate Hanni about the the Passenger Bill of Rights legislation being debated on the floor of the House of Representatives today. She is quite disappointed that the legislation does not have a maximum amount of time that airlines can leave passengers on the tarmac before bringing them back to a terminal.

Additionally, she discusses her recent testimony in front of the House Rules Committee, the amount of support that this Bill of Rights has in Congress, and future reforms that she hopes will be implemented. (10:18)

Sen. Rockefeller says commercial aviation system on brink of collapse

Senator John D. Rockefeller (D-W. Va.) says that the commercial aviation system is teetering on the brink of collapse, at a hearing on the outlook for summer travel. Rockefeller says the aviation industry is cutting capacity and that changes in airline industry are going to be painful for airlines and for the communities which they serve. (0:43)

Air transport expert says DoT leaving a legacy of failed experiments

At a hearing on the outlook of summer air travel, John Meenan, vice president and chief operating officer of the Air Transport Association, says that the Department of Transportation (DoT) is not doing much to deal with the growing air traffic congestion. Meenan continues to say that the DoT is pushing congestion pricing and slot auctions which no one in the aviation world has used successfully.
