Biden Rebukes Barton's BP Apology
During briefing at the White House Thursday, Vice President Joe Biden offered a heated response to Rep. Joe Barton's (R-Texas) apology to BP CEO Tony Hayward for the White House's move to set up a multi-billion dollar escrow fund.
"I find it incredibly insensitive, incredibly out of touch,” Biden told reporters from the podium of the White House briefing room. (3:22)

One MORE reason why I am now an independent and no longer lean to an R.
Barton is a bought & paid for hack or daft if he can't see that an escrow fund allows damages to be paid much quicker than would be paid AFTER the endless legal wrangling. And it ensures that money for damages is in hand - not promised. We need to stop all the anti-BP posturing and spend the effort on constructively stopping the flow and cleaning up with the help of the BP fund (assuming PB actually ponies up the 20B.) D's & R's It's my hope that you see a November to Remember.
Apology? Not Good Enough, Dems Say
Here’s an idea: We’ll get Barton together with Congressman Bob Etheridge. Bob can manhandle a better apology out of him.
Barton's initial comments typify in general the Republican party mindset toward the average American (corporations 1st, people 2nd or maybe a distant 4th behind dogs and cats). Think about it next time you vote.
