Former President Clinton Addresses Arizona Immigration Law, Confederate History Month

Former President Clinton addressed Arizona's controversial new immigration law and Confederate History month in Virginia.

“People are looking for anchors to make life simple and understandable and adjustable again. Sometimes with the idea that they need to go back to an idyllic time that never existed," Clinton said Friday during remarks before the Center for American Progress on the 15th Anniversary of the Oklahoma City Bombing. "That’s a big part of the explanation for this anti-immigration law that Arizona just passed or the idea that we ought to bring back Confederate month in Virginia without talking anything about slavery." Illegal immigrants have no regards for our laws, do not want to assimilate nor become citizens. They are here to work and leech what ever they can out of our social services. They need to be deported.

I am sooooo tired of the race card and slavery card. There are no slave owners nor slaves alive today. There are enough programs to help minorities advance.

Nice blanket statement there Susanr... That's exactly what Mr. Clinton was talking about. The immigration process in the U.S. is so complicated it is very easy to become illegal even if you follow all the rules. Admittedly millions have openly broken the rules to get here, but many more have been here for more than 10 years and have no other home now. Deporting people who have been here for more than 10 years is not a logical policy. The race card is being played in Arizona by the legislators who are creating laws where enforcement officials can make arbitrary judgments as to who might look like they are here illegally. I for one would not want to be a person of Mexican or Central American ancestry driving the roads of Arizona after these laws are passed, even if I were a citizen.

susana, mi amor hija,

i think your comment is as stupida as you are-you mention race card and slavery card? which part of those words you did not understand? ha hija? let me guess, oh! i think, your family and ancestors were among those who want black people to sit at the back of the bus, or your ancestors were the ones putting the sign on the bathroom
NO COLORED People ALLOWED-well my friend, i think you are so backward-do you know that millios of your countrymen-I mean Americans live outside of the united states-trying to earn a living?
Maybe you need to be reminded about the golden rule-DO NOT DO UNTO OTHERS-AS WHAT OTHERS DO UNTO YOU (is that right-whatever).
Bye my friend- don't sleep too much-because you might turn black and if you turn black you will never come back.

your afro-american friend in nigeria

Clinton has no clue whats she is talking about. Clinton lives in a gated community drives to work in a limo and has her groceries purchased by her assistants.
As a PROUD American Hispanic I support what Arizona is doing. I'm tired of all the Mexicans that have come here illegally and do nothing but give all American Hispanics a bad image.
Arizona way to wake up, you don't become another Los Angeles.

Jess, you fool. Wanting illegal immigrants to be deported it not racist. Pulling the race card makes the person holding it the racist, not the receiver.

Giulia, guess what, Americans will surely do that. But wait, their jobs are taken up by an illegal immigrant!

If the governor signs this bill, it is no different than the law in Nazi Germany, requiring jews to wear the star of David. disgusting! Real immigration reform is needed in 2010! No more excuses, wait, and lies! Racism ALWAYS loses in America and after the darkness, the dawn wil shine brightly on justice and humanity!

I believe what Susan was trying to put forth is this. When people enter this country illegally and take up residence, they are breaking federal law. It matters not what color they are or what their beliefs are. They will ultimately be unable to work without the proper documentation; they will apply for social services for food and housing; they place their children in our public schools. Social services becomes over-burdened, schools become over-crowded. Economically it is not sustainable. Our taxes will rise because there will be no other means by which to pay for ourselves as well as those who enter the country illegally. Our country is in the gravest of economic times and something has to give. If nothing is done to correct the problem of illegal immigration, we will be overrun and economically broken.

I have to show ID to buy cigarettes, I have to show ID to buy alcohol , If I am pulled over the cop ask to see my license , I have to provide ID to gain employment , I must produce ID to purchase a gun, I must show ID to register for school , etc, etc. Should I be screaming Racism , you broke the laws of our Country, go home and get in the back of the line and let those who obey and honor our laws waiting in line to come here ,come here.
As for these Dems screaming , they need the illegal votes because come November they are toast .

Our immigration law is broken and all of us agreed. We are talking about people who are here already and working without paying tax. Let all of them be documented and pay their taxes. Let us fix it at once and move forward i mean they are working already so they are not going to take any further jobs.
