Biden: U.S. Will Continue To Reinforce Progress In Iraq

Vice President Joe Biden took the seat as Chair of the UN Security Council this morning to highlight the Administration’s ongoing support to the government of Iraq. The Council unanimously adopted several resolutions: to end the restrictions on the country’s weapons of mass destruction and civilian nuclear program (resolution 1957), since the government has taken great strides to sign onto key international non-proliferation agreements, and resolutions 1956 and 1958 which terminate residual funds for the Oil for Food Program and the Development Fund for Iraq, set up initially to assist refugees and IDP (Internally Displaced Persons).
