Sotomayor Describes Herself As "Uniquely American"
Supreme Court nominee Sonia Sotomayor insisted during her confirmation hearing before the Senate that her life has been "uniquely American".
"My parents left Puerto Rico during WWII, I grew up in modest circumstances in a Bronx housing project, my father...passed away when I was nine years old," Sotomayor explained.
Sotomayor added that her mother was intent on integrating her children into the American world and placed emphasis on education as the key to success in the U.S. (0:36)
