Immigration invades 2008 election
In a conference call, America’s Voice, a campaign for building public support and political power to advance immigration reform, announced a new project to track the impact of immigration issues in the 2008 elections. Frank Sharry, Executive Director of America’s Voice, announced a new website, Immigration08.com, which will track ads, coverage, and commentary on immigration until the election. Recently the two nominees, Senators Barack Obama (D-Ill.) and John McCain (R-Ariz.), spoke at several Latino events, so the campaign took this opportunity to announce its new site.
Celinda Lake, President of Lake Research Partners, said that the program is proposing an election-day exit poll to discern what role immigration issues played in mobilizing voters. Pete Brodnitz, the Principal of Benenson Strategy Group, advised solving immigration problems, rather than antagonizing immigrants. Simon Rosenberg, President of the New Democrat Network, said that there is no way that the Republicans can win the Presidency without a significant showing in the southwestern states and Florida, making immigration a vital issue in the upcoming election. He added that McCain (R-AZ) has shown cowardice rather than courage on immigration issues.
Sharry said that McCain understands the immigration issue but revoked his support of immigration reform in fear of a right-wing revolt. But now, he said, McCain is associated with the Bush immigration policy that represses immigrants in self-deportation. America’s Voice endorses full immigration reform with the opportunity to gain citizenship.(49:48)

On the most traumatic issue facing the American woman, or men in November is illegal immigration. Neither presidential cannot be trusted, because they are both pandering to the special interest lobby. The war is on the home front, not in 'NATION BUILDING' in Iraq, with a cost that is astronomical. However expenditures for the illegal immigration would quickly catch up with the war funding if AMERICANS don't fight the propagating occupation. Every legal Hispanic needs to know this effects them as well as other nationalities, because they will also feel the lose of jobs and their families future.
Does the American people need to escalate the 315 million plus population, the census estimates we have now? To a new total of 435 million because the new president wants to add a new blanket AMNESTY? Right now the dire consequences of overpopulation is irrefutable, by just looking at the congestion in our cities, along with the ever growing pollution. We cannot sustain supporting even larger numbers of people, or ignoring the predatory businesses that callously assume that legal citizens will support their cheap labor? We, the American welcome more legal immigrants, than any other country in the world, whatever their national origin. Yet the 'Special interest lobby, through certain corrupted politicians expect us to import poverty, so that the profits of rogue companies is not suspended.
The Diversity Alliance for Sustainable America www.earthtimes.org/ have stated in it's article that if the U.S. grants amnesty and gives citizenship to 12 to 30 million illegal migrants, as Senators Obama and McCain propose. All those naturalized citizens could possibly add 120 million U.S. and foreign-born relatives to the U.S., in the next 20 years whom all would CONSUME MAJOR ENERGY. Only THE FEDERAL SAVE ACT (H.R.4088) offers any chance of halting this overpopulation quagmire It's enactment will give ICE and the police more enforcement powers. The only "immigration reform" we need is border enforcement and dramatic reductions in legal immigration. America is beset by a whole host of problems, ranging from dependence on foreign oil to greenhouse gas emissions, that will only be exacerbated by continued, rampant population growth. We currently import 1.1 million legal immigrants each year, and about half that many illegal immigrants, enough to fill another major city in the U.S. every year. This insanity has got to stop.
