DOE supports regional electricity resource planning

Kevin Kolevar, assistant secretary for Electricity Delivery and Energy Reliability at the U.S Department of Energy spoke today at a Senate hearing on the challenges of renewable energy transmission. Kolevar says that “if you want to support clean energy, you have to support transmission expansion.” The new electricity demand will only be met through national and regional cooperation, but he is positive that the U.S. will overcome the techinical challenges. Kolevar said that the Department of Energy strongly supports regional approaches to addressing electricity resource planning. (1:01)
