Sen. Richard Shelby (R-AL) says that the total Dept. of Justice Request for the FY2008 budget is $20 billion, which is a $771 million decrease below the 2007 Joint Resolution funding level at the Senate Appropriations Committee hearing on the FY2008 budget for the Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA), the Bureau of Alcohol Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF), and the U.S. Marshal Service.
Shelby says that this $500 million shortfall, combined with the cost of the War on Terror and the recent hurricane seasons will force the Department of Justice to make tough decisions. (0:30)
